Amanda Long has been named as chief executive of the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS).
She will succeed Edward Hardy, who has held the post for a decade, next week.
Her former roles include chief executive of professional service firms association Morison KSI, CEO of advocacy group Corporate Culture, and head of corporate responsibility at Anglian Water Services.
She said: “My career has been focused on engaging with organisations to raise standards across a range of industries.
“I look forward to working with organisations who are part of the scheme and those that influence engagement with the scheme, to help extend its reach and influence even further.”
CCS chairman Isabel Martinson said Ms Long “brings a huge wealth of expertise” which “clearly resonates with the core values and mission” of the scheme.
“I would also like to thank Edward Hardy for his significant achievements over the past decade as chief executive, in shaping the scheme to become the huge success it is today,” she added.
